Aja (pronounced like "Rajah") is a 4 year old sable German Shepherd. She is Other Half's 5th patrol dog in his 34 year career.  Just watching her play in the yard reminds me how much I do love a German Shepherd.

She's beautiful! Reminds me of London in The Littlest Hobo old kids' TV show. What country is she from? I like this type a lot better than the AKC show dogs.

Aja is a Czech-bred dog. They produce some really nice German Shepherds. I like the structure on their dogs.

What a gorgeous shepherd! Out of curiosity, is she likely to be afflicted with the dysplasia so commonly found in the German shepherds in this country, or is it not as monumental of a problem across the pond?

She is so lovely. I'm drooling over here. LOL'ing at Lily's reaction, and love how sweet Aja sounds!

Hips and elbows are always a problem in dogs of this breed, but responsible breeders x-ray prior to breeding and she has been x-rayed prior to the agency purchasing her. She is a lovely example of nice structure, good working ability, and a sweet temperament. I have seen some very nice Czech-bred German Shepherds and although I am certainly NOT in the market for another dog, if I were looking for a GSD, I look there.

Let me clarify that! If I were looking for another WORKING dog. If I just wanted a nice GSD, I'd go to German Shepherd rescue. I've seen some lovely dogs there. A dog doesn't have to be a police dog to be a fantastic pet. In fact, a lot of working dogs have so much drive that they need experienced handlers (Oli!). Never ever overlook the breed rescue organizations when looking for your next pet.
